"Noise Figure" article has been uploaded to the RF Design Guide page.
When people think of electrical noise, they imagine external sources such as power lines and equipment etc.
While this is a major source of noise, it is not the only source. Components that make up the receiver (including the antenna) along with thermal noise can raise the receiver noise floor and reduce the signal to noise ratio. Since transmitters have to operate within power limits, improving signal to noise ratios cannot be solved by simply increasing transmit output power. So it is important to lower the noise floor wherever possible.
To help engineers understand the concept of receiver noise figure and its impact on the noise floor in relation to other factors such as signal bandwidth and temperature, we are pleased to announce the publication of following article on the RF Design Guide page.
