[ Video ] Antenna height pattern calculation tool

For fixed point to point links, making sure there are no obstructions and keeping the Fresnel zone clear are not the only requirements for good communication. The relative height of the receiver and transmit antenna is also important and we can determine the antenna height pattern when receiving.

This variation is due to the presence of a reflective surface such as a ground giving waves a second path to the receiver. These waves will interfere to produce a wave that can be weaker or stronger than the original.

The final strength depends on the phase difference between the direct and reflected wave which in turn is related to the frequency, transmitter height and communication distance.

Circuit Design has created this antenna height pattern calculation tool in addition to the tool for the Fresnel zone allowing you to determine the final installation position of the receiver antenna.
