Remote monitoring of manhole pump using long range wireless communication.
In the case where problems occur in infrastructure essential to daily living such as the sewage system's water level or pump, a swift response is required. The ICT sewage monitoring system that uses low power radio makes this possible. By using long range wireless communication for monitoring, it is possible to identify the source of the problem as soon as it occurs. This allows the sewage system to be operated and maintained safely.

Use of the 429 MHz band to achieve long range wireless communication of several hundred meters or more using low power radio is possible without subscription to a monthly or annual fee. The MU series by Circuit Design uses proprietary command system allowing radio control in industrial applications to be performed easily. This makes it suitable for various IOT applications and telemetry systems. |
System overview
Signals from the vacuum valve unit within the manhole pump are not transmitted to the vacuum station by wire, but by radio. Compared to a wired system, it enables lower construction costs initially, simpler maintenance and a saving in maintenance running cost of the system. By the same comparison and using another relay station, transmission distance can easily be extended.
Circuit Design also manufacture modules for use in the 434 MHz band allowing similar application to be developed in countries outside Japan.
The low power radio MU-4-434 modem operates in the ISM 434 MHz band and uses our command protocol. This allows the user to easily and reliably transmit sensor data by wireless. MU-4-434 units can be configured individually facilitating use of relay stations and the design of network topologies.
The low power radio SLR-434M operates in the 434 MHz ISM band and uses our command protocol. This allows the user to easily and reliably transmit sensor data by wireless. SLR-434M incorporates LoRa® technology developed by Semtech. Using LoRa modulation while lowering bitrate allows long distance (upto few kms line of sight without use of relay stations) to be achieved without increasing RF power and keeping power consumption low.
The SLR-434M contains a Semtech's LoRa® wireless RFIC.
The LoRa® Mark and LoRa Logo are trademarks of Semtech Corporation.
